Is it possible to reduce the damage done by Global Warming?

Miranda Marvels Asked: Is it possible to reduce the damage done by Global Warming?

Can we work to fix all that we have done? I know we have hybrids and solar panels and what not, but is it possible to completely help the Earth? Or is all damage permanent? If you don't believe in Global Warming, then don't answer this.

Yes we can work together to fix what we have done, just as soon as gaia the spirit of earth can no longer stand the terrible distruction plaguing our planet and she sends five magic rings to five special kids Kwami from Africa with the power of Earth, from North America, Wheeler with the power of fire, from the soviet union Linka with the power of wind, From Asia Gi with the power of water, and from south America Ma-Ti with the power of Heart, when the five powers combine they'll summon the Earth's greatest champion Captain Planet.

L E Gant Answered:
First, you have to understand what global warming is and what it is not.

Much of the damage done by humans is through the use of resources that are not replaceable – use of oil, minerals, ores, and so on – in less than geological time periods (millions of years). In that sense, the damage is permanent. However, that damage doesn't always result in global warming.

The most important greenhouse gas is water vapour, not carbon dioxide. Here's a little nasty thought: many of the so-called solutions to stop generating carbon-based pollution (carbon dioxide, methane, etc.) are about getting water as the output, especially the so-called "green" solutions. If we increase the amount of water in the atmosphere, then we are more likely to hold heat in the atmosphere. So, maybe many of the "green" solutions are likely to cause greater problems than increasing the carbon content….

Global warming is a lie created by world governments to control industry. The so called melting of the icecaps cannot scientifically happen. Proof of this is in the orbit and tilting of earth of poles AWAY from the sun. Further proof is in the effects supposedly caused by it would cause colder temperature not warmer. The co2 emissions are absorbed by plant life, producingoxygen. That is the truth about how nature takes care of all life on our planet. Is it possible to increase the positive consequences of global warming?I believe we have naturally warmed for about 300 years. If you believe in global warming, what is it you believe in?Do you believe climates are naturally stable?Do you believe humans have caused warming?Do you believe that warming is intrinsically harmful?Do you believe humans are intrinsically harmful?Do you believe that belief is for religions or is OK to just believe in things that you don't understand fully?I was just curious. If you only want to hear from people who support your "belief" why are you asking the question? Is it some sort of rhetorical question? Is it to show them you are on their side?

kittenlover Answered:
yes but everyone would need to stop BURNING TREES! and we should build more earth friendly supplies. global warming is bad and if we treat the earth right it can stop.

BTW:OCHO why in the world do you burn trees! do you even care we need trees to live

Jeff M Answered:
LE Gant: Water vapour can only provide a certain amount of warming. It's concentration is based on temperature. It can not warm the atmosphere beyond a certain point. Of course as you increase the temperature by some other means the concentration of water vapour will also increase due to warmer air parcels being able to hold more water vapour. As that air parcel cools and it reaches it's saturation point if it cools more clouds will form.

It is possible, perhaps not only to reduce but to also reduce it's past effects. The question is,how many people are actuallywilling to do their part?

Phoenix Quill Answered:
Yes.You could get rid of California's greenhouse gas laws for starters.

The Government didn't really make up Global Warming – we can thank a bunch of Liberal/Socialist environmentalists for that one.But the Government absolutely goes along because the recommendations from the AGW crowd always entail higher taxation of energy & greater Government control.

It's a bit like understanding that Government did not make up Religion, but is always willing to use people's faith as a tool of political control.AGW is like a Religion that helps you become a good Socialists.

Amanda B Answered:
YES! by simply starting at our house, we can reduce the damage done to our environment. ex. avoid using products which contributes CFC's. don't burn plastic, rubbers, and other materials which has chemical content. plant trees in our backyard.

Gods bro Answered:
Yesish it will be fixed if we stop polluting It will take atleast 200 years to be back to its orginal state.

Please expand on "the damage done by Global Warming".

i.e What the damage has been done? and how do you demonstrate it's been caused by global warming?

Pindar Answered:
Damage?What damage,I can't see any and I'll bet you can't quote any.

" As long as the earh remains, the seasons will never cease in their circuits." From the mouth of our own.Burning fossil fuels such as natural gas, coal, oil and gasoline raises the level of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, and carbon dioxide is a major contributor to the greenhouse effect and global warming.
You can help to reduce the demand for fossil fuels, which in turn reduces global warming, by using energy more wisely.
1.Reduce, Reuse, Recycle
Do your part to reduce waste by choosing reusable products instead of disposables. Buying products with minimal packaging (including the economy size when that makes sense for you) will help to reduce waste. And whenever you can, recycle paper, plastic, newspaper, glass and aluminum cans. If there isn't a recycling program at your workplace, school, or in your community, ask about starting one. By recycling half of your household waste, you can save 2,400 pounds of carbon dioxide annually.

3. Buy Energy-Efficient Products
When it's time to buy a new car, choose one that offers good gas mileage. Home appliances now come in a range of energy-efficient models, and compact florescent bulbs are designed to provide more natural-looking light while using far less energy than standard light bulbs.

2. Use Less Heat and Air Conditioning
Adding insulation to your walls and attic, and installing weather stripping or caulking around doors and windows can lower your heating costs more than 25 percent, by reducing the amount of energy you need to heat and cool your home.

Turn down the heat while you're sleeping at night or away during the day, and keep temperatures moderate at all times. Setting your thermostat just 2 degrees lower in winter and higher in summer could save about 2,000 pounds of carbon dioxide each year.
